About Apple Cabinetry and Design
Growing up in New England with a father whose father was a woodworker, I guess I didn't have to think much about what path I was going to take. New England was full of old craftsman that were more interested in getting the job done right rather than getting paid. Now it's vice versa.
Apple Cabinetry and Design can provide you anything in a cabinet you can visualize. I like to ask a client to fly by a fancy bookstore, look at designer kitchen and furniture magazines and pull out the pages of things that make them happy, long before they get to meet us. By the way, please pay for the magazines you rip the pages out of. :)
Apple Cabinetry and Design was started 24 years ago when John Flynn, a customer of my father Charles McIntosh, had a garage for a boat that overlooked a canal waterway filled with million dollar boats. Mr. Flynn wasn't using the garage (he had three others) and needed some work done in his home. I had no space to do the work in that he desired. Next thing I knew, I was in his unoccupied garage with life happening way too fast. Before I knew it, I was out trying to get more work, including figuring out how to price jobs out, where to get what from where and who from how. Here's this retired guy and his wife, living in an upscale neighborhood with their electric bill four times what it was supposed to be, with tractor trailers driving in with loads of maple and cherry hardwoods, ready to be turned into cabinets and bookcases.
Well, needless to say the neighbors of the Flynns were calling, (like the old Tom Wade song), "What's he building in there, what the hell is he building in there?"
Pop- the bubble burst, it was time for me to go. Not by my choosing. I had a million dollar view, no rent, not even my own table saw; I was using his. I don't remember what happened next, but for some reason I ended up in an abandoned shipping loft and had to carve a sign for the front door. And I also had to make that front door. The rest is history.
